
Baton Rouge, LA -- (Sports Network) - The seventh-ranked LSU Tigers are the defending national champs, and they will begin the 2008 season by hosting the always dangerous Appalachian State Mountaineers.
College football fans undoubtedly remember Appalachian State's shocking victory over Michigan to open the 2007 campaign. The Mountaineers compete in the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly know as Division I-AA, and they have won the last three national titles at that level.
